Power Boat Guide Description
With over 300 built during nearly two decades of production, the Hatteras 53 is widely considered a classic yachting design. Few American motoryachts of her era came close to matching the Hatteras 53 in comfort and luxury, and none could match the quality construction long associated with the Hatteras brand. Heavily built on a solid fiberglass hull with moderate beam and a shallow keel, the Hatteras 53’s expansive three-stateroom interior was considered ideal in a 1970s/1980s motor yacht of her size. Because the galley and dinette are down, the salon is surprisingly spacious with sufficient room aft of the lower helm to entertain a small crowd. Note the wide side decks and deck access door to starboard at the helm. To The Moon features a custom athwartship walk-around queen bed in the master stateroom, a great improvement from the twin bunk models of this era. Powered with GM 435hp 8V71TI diesels.
