Built in 1983 by the renowned Camper & Nicholsons shipyard in Gosport, England, II embodies the enduring craftsmanship and elegance that have defined the yard’s reputation for over two centuries. Designed by Dave Pedrick, whose résumé includes two America’s Cup winners (Courageous, 1974 and Stars & Stripes, 1987), this 58/60 Series represents the flagship of its era—combining timeless lines, exceptional sailing performance, and thoughtful design for ease of handling.
II offers the comfort and volume of a much larger yacht while remaining easily managed by a short-handed crew. Notable features include an aft helm cockpit with a private companionway to the master stateroom, twin guest cabins forward that can convert into a large VIP suite, and hydraulically controlled sails and powered winches—rare attributes for this model.
A major million-dollar refit in 2001–2002 brought her systems and finishes up to modern standards, including new teak decks, hull/deck/spar paint, a Yanmar diesel engine, refinished interior joinery, new winches, hydraulic furling, and updated electronics. In 2021-2022 she has received a new mast, and all new rigging.
Today, II remains a fine example of classic British yacht building—graceful, capable, and ready for her next chapter of blue water cruising.
This refit represents a near-total modernization of II, with careful attention to structure, systems, and finish—executed by one of New England’s most respected yards
Aboard II, the interior showcases the fine craftsmanship and warm elegance for which Camper & Nicholsons is renowned. She features four private double cabins, each with its own sink and adjoining head, providing exceptional comfort for owners, guests, and crew alike.
The forward cabin may be used for crew if desired, with dual access from the foredeck and through the adjacent guest cabins. A shared centerline shower connects the two forward guest heads, each of which can be expanded into a private dressing area thanks to dual-latching doors and dedicated hanging lockers.
The mirror-image guest cabins forward of the main salon each include a double berth outboard, a hinged Pullman-style single berth above, and a marble vanity with sink and mirror. The removable centerline partition allows the two cabins to convert easily into one spacious VIP suite when desired.
Stepping down from the companionway, the main salon exudes warmth and functionality. To starboard is the galley (detailed below), while forward sits a custom upholstered L-shaped dinette with seating for six around an oval teak table. Opposite to port, a large navigation station provides direct access to the yacht’s electronics and electrical systems. Aft of the nav area is a matching upholstered settee with a teak cocktail table and a dry bar featuring custom glassware cabinetry, a liquor dispenser, and a built-in freezer.
A portside passageway leads aft to the full-beam master suite, featuring a double berth to port, a single berth with L-shaped settee to starboard, a marble vanity with sink, and an ensuite head with separate shower stall. The passageway also offers excellent engine room access, additional cabinetry, a slide-out workbench, and a sea berth for use underway. The private companionway connects the master suite directly to the aft helm cockpit—an uncommon and highly desirable feature on a yacht of this size.
As expected from Camper & Nicholsons, the joinery and finish are exceptional throughout. Rich teak woodwork, brass reading lamps, teak-and-holly soles, wicker-paneled cabinetry, and ample natural light and ventilation create a classic yet inviting interior ambiance.
