1984 Tayana 55 | 55ft

This sailing boat was built as Ancasta Surprise 58, designed by Dutchman Pieter Beeldsnijider. 

The boats were built in Taiwan and imported to the Isle of Wight for finishing and commissioning. Each boat being a semi-custom build to suit the commissioning owners requirement. This model has a 3 cabins, 2 cabins had bunk beds and third huge master cabin in the stern has double bed.

The hull of the Surprise 58 became the base of the Tayana 55 in later years.

The current owner has largely renovated this sailboat in the last few years, so the hull has been additionally reinforced, a new Perkins 135 engine and generator have been installed, new artificial teak has been installed on the deck, a new gas stove, microwave and refrigerator, etc., boat is equipped with 8 electric winches and 2 hydraulic rollers.

CONSTRUCTION Solid fiberglass hull, hand laminated according to Lloyds specifications. A matrix of longitudinal and transverse foam-cored stringers in the lower hull providing maximum hull stiffness. Internal cast iron ballast glassed into a modified fin keel with choice of drafts. Skeg-mounted rudder, with internal stainless steel rudder post and integral stainless steel reinforcement. The deck is a composite construction using closed cell foam and end-grain light wood sandwich coring. All deck hardware areas are reinforced using encapsulated marine grade plywood. Deck hardware is through-bolted using stainless steel backing plates.
