Class 40
Class 40 is a class of monohull sailboats that was established in 2004 to create an accessible category for shorthanded offshore racing. This particular Class 40 Akilaria RC2 #81 Zed4 is a reliable and solid racing boat. Built by MC-TEC and launched in 2009, she was designed by M. Lombard. This Class 40 Akilaria RC2 #81 Zed4 proved her speed and reliability with early success racing around the British Isles and other open-water events.
Upgrades & Refit
Since 2018, Zed4 has taken a break from racing to enjoy the cruising and ocean crossing lifestyle, venturing across the Atlantic several times between the U.S. and Europe. Since taking a break from racing, all of the boat’s critical systems have been updated and refit.

- The auto pilots actuators can be switched to be used by the Raymarine computer or B&G in matter of seconds.

- The rudders were re-skinned in July 2025 and rudder bearings port and starboard sides are new July 2025.
